Termites Gold Coast are professional pest controllers who are licensed to conduct the following termite inspections:

  • pre-purchase timber pest inspections
  • pre-sale timber pest inspections
  • annual subterranean termite inspections
  • infrared thermal imaging camera inspections

It is a good idea to move any furniture or stored items away from walls giving the termite inspector a clear run.

A proper termite inspection will include the inside of the house, the roof void, sub flooring (if applicable), floorboards, ant caps, the exterior of the house, any outbuildings, pergolas, fences, trees and gardens.

Using a probe or a purpose made donger as it is known in the industry, your termite inspector will tap all timbers within the structure you are inspecting. Door jambs, architraves, window sills and skirting boards will all be tested to see if the wood is solid. termites usually go for the soft wood of these items first.

Carpet edges should be lifted to check for any mud tunnels. The insulation in a roof should be lifted to check the roof timbers. The roof has a lot of timber up there so a thorough investigation is conducted.

Equipment Used To Help The Inspection.

First let me say that nothing can replace a qualified termite inspector’s experience and knowledge when it comes to inspecting and detecting termites. This is especially true with Termites Gold Coast who have three generations of experience in termite inspections on the Gold Coast. Termites don’t change their habits and knowing how they tick is half the battle. There are sure tell tale signs that only a professional termite controller could ever recognise.

When it comes to equipment there are a couple of things that can help. Firstly there is a moisture meter. Termites attack timber, they bring moisture into the wood that they are attacking and a moisture meter should pick this up. A moisture meter will not find termites however it will find areas of high moisture content. It is a tool to aid a good inspector, that is all.

We also use use  microwave technology to detect active termites within your walls.

Infrared technology or thermal imaging cameras detect heat in small spaces and is perfect for use in the termite inspection because it can detect colonies that are grouped together and make it easier for the pest control operator to pinpoint the location of the infestation and effectively get rid of the problem.

We provide you with a comprehensive written report that offers the best advice and professional service in strict accordance to the Australian Standard 3660.2, for peace of mind.

We will recommend the most appropriate measure to eliminate termites in your home or building.

Termite Inspection Gold CoastSo how does it work?

Thermal imaging technology detects heat patterns. When termites are present, the normal heat patterns of the walls, floors and roof are changed. The thermal camera records this change in heat patterns due to the termites and indicates the exact location of the termite infestation. A color image shows hot spots as red or yellow and cold spots as blue or purple and these heat patterns indicate termite infestations.  That means that infrared technology and termite inspection can be much more effective than the normal ways of doing a termite inspection.

Termites are actually cold blooded insects but they are hosts to bacteria which live inside their guts. Its the bacteria’s job to break down the cellulose which is the main component of timber. It’s this process of digestion that generates the heat.

Thermal imaging cameras make detecting termites so much easier and is a handy tool for any pest control company to include in their termite inspections.

At the end of the termite inspection a full report will be given to you.
It should include any restrictions to the inspection and areas that could not be inspected. It will tell you if there are any conditions around your home that might be attracting termites and how to rectify them. The report will recommend a termite management or termite treatment program. If treatment is required a price should be given with the report.
